………………………………………………………………………

My mother was wearing 着物 (Kimonos).

I put my hands together pulling up the shadows of my mother’s memories.

I am remembering and I put my arms into her Kimono.

I have decided to make this Kimono exhibition from my collection with a wish that those sleeping Kimonos in my chest will be related to someone else with their own beautiful way to bring in those Kimonos into their daily life.

The patterns of Kimono were made by several ways such as weaving and painting. There are many kinds of patterns with different meanings.

Since ancient times, Japanese were wearing Kimonos on their skins putting their wish into the designs.

For this opportunity, I would like to bring some silk fabrics as 振袖Furisode (Long sleeved kimono) and 訪問着Houmongi (Visiting dress), and more casual fabrics as 浴衣Yukata (Summer dress), and 絣Kasuri (Splashed patterns). Accessories such as 道行きMichiyuki(Road coat), and 帯Obi(Belt). Juban is supposed to be underwear, but you can enjoy them freely as gown or coat. I would love to suggest many kinds of ways to enjoy Kimonos.

Please come visit us to feel (Four seasons) through Japanese Kimonos.

Chou Chou San

Butoh dancer. Besides her career as a part of Duet MUTSUMINEIRO, she has been focusing on several fields such as making foods for catering especially INAKAZUSHI (Vegetable Sushi) by her original recipes, giving different kinds of workshops for children, and making exhibitions with her collections of antiques and forgotten things with a wish that they can have a new journey by putting the lights on them.

Also, she has been performing “Hitori (One person) Cirque” with her original puppets made with scraps and forgotten things at different corners.

Japanese ver. of text for exhibition.
